Write for us

Got a theory, a thought experiment, or a story from the edge of the render distance? We publish guest posts from curious people. Every submission is read and reviewed by a human editor before anything goes live. Nobody publishes directly to the site.

What we're looking for

  • Topics: simulation theory, philosophy of mind and perception, technology and AI, humor, and short fiction.
  • Length: 600–1,500 words.
  • Original work: unpublished, or previously published with your right to republish it (tell us where it first appeared).
  • Written by you. No mass-produced AI content, spun articles, or keyword-stuffed posts.
  • No hate or harassment, and no unverified claims about real people.
  • Quotes attributed and sourced, with links where possible.
  • Satire clearly labeled as satire.

What we do

  • Review every submission for spam, plagiarism, defamation and quality. We'll reply whether we accept it or not, though it may take a little while.
  • Edit lightly for length, clarity and style. We won't change your argument.
  • Credit you by name with a short bio and a link to your site or social profile.
  • We can't pay contributors at the moment.
  • You keep ownership of your work.

Contributor agreement

By submitting, you agree that:

  1. The work is your own original work, and you have every right needed to submit it, including for any images or quotes it contains.
  2. It doesn't infringe anyone's rights or make false claims about real people.
  3. You give Cartier Holdings LLC (operator of this site) a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to publish it on this site and its newsletter and social channels, edit it for length and clarity, and keep it in the archive. You remain the owner and can publish it anywhere else.
  4. You can ask us to remove your post at any time by emailing hello@lifeinasimulation.com, and we'll take it down within a reasonable time.
  5. We may decline or remove any submission for any reason, and submitting doesn't guarantee publication.

Long posts can get cut off when passed to an email app, and some devices don't open one at all. If that happens, email your post to hello@lifeinasimulation.com as a document (.docx, Google Doc link, or Markdown) or pasted in the body, using this template:
